“House wine” simply means the standard, by-the-glass option a restaurant pours as its default red, white, or sparkling. It’s usually affordable, easy-drinking, and chosen to appeal to a wide range of tastes. House wine isn’t automatically low quality — in many places, it’s selected for reliability and value rather than prestige. Think of it as the restaurant’s everyday pour: approachable, consistent, and designed to work with most of the menu.
