Screwcaps aren’t “cheap” — they’re practical. Unlike natural cork, screwcaps create a tight seal that reduces the risk of cork taint and keeps the wine consistent from bottle to bottle. Many high-quality producers use them intentionally, especially for fresh, aromatic whites and everyday reds. That said, some wines designed for long aging still use cork for tradition and controlled oxygen exposure. Better doesn’t mean fancier — it means fit for purpose.
